The gem of healing. According to mythology, the goddess Artemis transformed the daughter Amethyst into a stone in order to save her from the drunken Dionysus.

Its name comes from the Italian phrase "a ventura" which means "by chance". According to the story, around 1700, in Murano, Italy, a type of glass was made by a glassmaker who accidentally dropped copper shavings into the molten material.
